7 Ways to Have Fun Indoors
Games and crafts for cold days

By Parenting

Have a dirty-sock fight. Got cranky kids? Take the socks right off your feet and challenge them to a throwing battle (P-U!), and watch the whines turn to giggles and squeals. Make up teams to help out your littlest ones.
Play Simon Says, redux. Put a twist on the game with Spider-Man Says -- or whoever's popular in the house that week -- and everyone can take turns being their favorite superhero. Mix it up every time: "Spider-Man says, 'Pretend to spray a web on the wall!'"
Go on a free field trip to the pet store. It's too cold for the zoo; spend an hour checking out the cute puppies and kittens. If your kid's really into wild things, look for a store with exotic creatures.
Try a valentine craft. Trace and cut out a big heart shape from a brown paper bag. Little kids can crush or crinkle small squares of red and pink tissue paper into balls; older kids (or you) can help them glue the tissue balls on to cover the cutout or arrange them in the shape of the letters "D-A-D."
Jazz up "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes". Keep a pack of stickers in your purse; when your toddler's getting antsy in a restaurant, stick them all over her body. Sing the song, then ask her to find them, and name the body part each sticker is on together.
Visit this cool site: Soapbubbler.com It's got tons of cool videos of soap-bubble artists making colorful creations out of soap and wands. The gently transforming bubbles will have everyone mesmerized.
Revisit Red Light, Green Light -- indoors. Forgot how to play it? One person is the "stoplight"; the rest of you form a line several yards away. The stoplight turns his back to you and yells "green light!" You all run toward him until he yells "red light!" and turns around. Anyone he catches moving is out. The game's over when someone tags the stoplight or everyone is out.

Okay so I am really starting to feel down. We are moving in two weeks so that means no setting up my Christmas Decorations:( This weekend normally would have been the time that I do it. But trust me as soon as I move in those decorations will be up, even if my house stays packed. I will have a tree even if i don't get it till Christmas Eve!!! To cheer myself up I decided to post some beautifully decorated homes.

We have been so busy. We are moving from NC to MD next month and do not yet have a place to live there. We went away for the weekend to look at rentals *(since we have to sell our house here) we found a house on the water in Pasadena. But have not heard whether or not we will get it. I will post some pics of it asap. We are listing our house with the realtor tomorrow night so I am very busy. Keep our family in your prayers as this is a huge change.

A Song for MothersWords and Music by Abigail Miller © 2003

I think this is the hundredth time I've said, "Don't slam the door,"And I know I'm getting tired of sweeping Cheerios off the floor. There's peanut butter on the kitchen curtains I just made, And finger-printed windows in every room where they have played.Sometimes I feel like changing diapers is all I'm living for,But Lord when I'm before You, I know there's ever so much more. Please help me to remember these words that You have said, That I may see my children through Your eyes.

Chorus: Whatever you do unto one of the least of these,You have done it unto Me.A cup of cold water, a kiss on the knee,Whatever you do, you've done it unto Me.

There are toys everywhere I look, there's laundry in the hall,There are schoolbooks in the kitchen, colored pictures on the wall,Sometimes I grow to envy those whose house is always clean,Who have time to do the projects of which I can only dream,Sometimes it seems like motherhood is a never-ending chore,But Lord, when I'm before You, I know there's ever so much more,Help me to see that everything I do can be a way To offer up my services to You.

Chorus

"Suffer the little children to come unto Me,"Like little children is what You wanted us to be,There's so much that we can learn, dear Lord,When we see our children through Your eyes.

Chorus

Whatever you do unto one of these, you've done it unto Me.Whatever you do, you have done it unto Me.
Here is a great food pyramid I found a while ago in a fitness magazine.
I think that it is logical and definitely a healthy way to eat whether to maintain your weight or to lose some weight:

Fast -Digesting Carbs (1 serving)
ex: white bread, fruit juice, white rice and potatoes
These are really for post workout, to help with recovery and muscle growth.

Supplements (1-4 servings)
ex: multivitamins, protein shakes, and any other vitamins

Whole Grains (2-3 servings)
ex: whole grain bread, brown rice, oatmeal
These help in keeping you regulated, and keep blood sugar levels steady.

Fruits (1-2 servings)
ex: bananas, oranges, apples, pears
Eat these before workouts or first thing in the morning

Healthy Fats (4-5 servings)
ex: olive oil, flax seed oil, avocado, guacamole, nuts, artichoke

Vegetables (5-7 servings)
ex: carrots, broccoli, zuchinni, spinach

Protein (5-7 4oz servings)
ex: eggs, fish, tofu, chicken, beans and protein bars
This post was meant for Thursday but we were having nasty storms and I could not get a good connection. I love headboards that really aren't headboards:
A room divider is so easy, but has a great look! (BHG.com) Oh my goodness this red door is gorgeous!!!!! (BHG.com)

I am actually not all that fond of this specific pic, but like the idea of using photos above the bed.
(BHG.com) Using a curtain! (DIYNET.com)

At first I didn't like this gate headboard, but now i love it! It would be awesome in a sports themed room or even a skateboarder room. (diynet.com)
A picket fence could be used for a girls room.

A headboard does not have to be expensive, get creative! If anyone has any other ideas feel free to share them.

I made it to post #2!!! You could say I am a bit of a dork. I want this blog to be so organized, so I decided to have daily topics. I came up with these cheesy titles for each day of the week. Go ahead and laugh at them. If you can come up with better ones please let me know.

Mothering Mondays (anything and everything related to motherhood and rearing
our children)

Creative Tuesdays (a day dedicated to crafting or anything handmade)

Wednesdays for Wives (this title is driving me crazy, it is just not workin for me)

Thrifty Thursdays (Anything related to decorating, trust me I only decorate with "good deals")

Fitness Fridays (Posts with health and fitness topics)

Scrumptious Saturdays (Food mmmmm!)

Surprising Sundays (anything else I might want to write about)

I cannot promise to post everyday so sometimes topics will be skipped.
Here we go I am begining my blogging journey. I have been blog obsessed for months now! My sister (at Growing Our Style)started a blog not too long ago and she inspired me to write my own. I have alot of interests but do not have the time for more than one blog, so this will be a place to organize all my interests.

Ok So why the title Growing Your Grass Greener?

Women (actually all people both young and old) can easily get caught up in the false beliefs that others have better marriages, better behaved children, nicer homes and uuummmm do i even need to say it? better bodies. Well this is a lie! Through this blog I hope to give ideas and encouragement to create help us to have better marriages, children, cozier homes and better self images (and maybe even lose a couple pounds along the way).

Warning: I AM NOT AN EXPERT IN ANY ONE OF THESE AREAS OF MY LIFE.
However, if we can share our ideas and struggles, we can grow and learn together.

I will be back tomorrow with more of my introduction and a detailed description of this blog.
