Winter Wonderful!!!
It seems I just can't escape the snow. I had always lived in Rochester, NY, till almost 2 years ago when we moved to Raleigh, NC. But it snowed our only winter there twice, not just a little but a storm. Then I move to the Annapolis, Maryland area and have gotten hit with 2 more storms (those who live here have told me they don't normally get very much snow at all). AAAHHH! it is following me.
It is beautiful to look at though. But I only need to see it once a year and I am good. My kids however couold live in Alaska. They absolutely love to play in the snow.
So I decided to find some things thatwe they could do in the snow with there friends.
Build a snow fort
Have a snowball war
Paint the snow: Put a water, food coloring mixture in a spray bottle
Build a snowman
Make snow cream: Gather very fresh snow. Use snow that has just fallen or is still falling. Avoid collecting the snow from the ground to avoid getting any dirt into the snow. And ALWAYS watch for yellow snow! Add sugar (a 1/2 cup per gallon) and vanilla (1-2 Tbsp per gallon) a little at a time to the snow and mix lightly with a large spoon. (Use a folding motion.) Add a little milk or cream ( you will need about a cup per gallon) and repeat until it has a slightly thinner texture than ice cream.(add milk slowly, the milk can make it runny very fast.)
Make snow angels
Go sledding
Get out the sandbox toys This is so simple yet my kids thought it was so fun to build snow castles
Have a winter scavenger hunt
Play footprint tag This is just like normal tag but you can only run in other peoples footprints
Have Fun!!!
